Project Overview
The Ronald McDonald House Charity for Glasgow, approached CCG (Scotland) Ltd to construct a new thirty bedroom facility for the families of children being treated at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. The new building has been moved from the Yorkhill campus to the campus of the new Southern General Hospital located in the Govan area of Glasgow. The client was pragmatic about their needs, requesting a series of interconnected public, private and semi-private spaces which act as a calming backdrop for guests to try and find a sense of the familiar in a foreign, temporary environment. Its design has embodied the surrounding character of the shipbuilding urban context, but also addressed the inherent sensitivities of an end user reaching out for comfort and reassurance CCG utilised their sub-division CCG Off-Site Manufacturing (OSM) to manufacture and construct the building as well as utilising their full construction capabilities to create an internally welcoming building as well as visual and physical amenity space for residents.
