Project Overview
Reigate Primary School is a 2 storey SIP and timber frame hybrid structure. 206 mm thick i-SIP panels with 11 mm OSB timber were installed for structure and the rest of the wall thickness is high grade insulation to make an impressive thermal performance. The entire structure was built using huge 6 metre by 3 metre i-SIP panels, manufactured at Innovaré's specialist facility in Coventry and transported to site where they were rapidly assembled by a lean team of operatives.
Structural timber makes for a lightweight construction, which provides both strength and high performance insulation, at a fraction of the wall thicknesses normally required. This meant the architect's desire for larger classrooms could be enjoyed by the school's pupils and a sleeker overall architectural aesthetic achieved for the school. By using Innovaré's i-SIP Full structure System allowed for clever value engineering of the design, only the minimum of additional steel structural support was required.
Innovaré were involved at the earliest stages of concept, helping influence the designers to look at alternatives beyond normal heavyweight construction, to a cost-effective, high technically performing and extremely fast to assemble method of construction. This led to fewer design concessions and opened up more opportunities for Innovaré to demonstrate i-SIP's obvious benefits of this innovative off-site building system.
