Project Overview
EOS Facades designed, manufactured and supplied load bearing structural pods (LPS) to a comprehensive mixed-use development on a 2.9-hectare brownfield site located in Harrow, North London. Formally home to the ColArt factory, the development by Barratt Homes comprises 189 homes in linear blocks, the project included the refurbishment and conversion of a former office building, five newly built artists' studios and a new public square.
Key drivers for the build were sustainability, speed and lightness of the load bearing construction together with cost and programme certainty. EOS's involvement with the product consisted of the design and supply of the standalone load bearing pods, positioned on top of the former office block.
The application of the EOS pods was split into two phases, with a total of nine pods. The challenges that EOS encountered meant that they had to take an innovative approach and were able to execute our part in the build successfully. EOS were also able to achieve the prerequisites of speed and quality of build, set out by Barratt Homes.
