Wernick Group sets 2040 carbon net-zero target

9th February, 2022

Modular and portable building specialist Wernick is implementing a strategy to become a carbon net-zero company by 2040.

Wernick's Chief Executive, Jonathan Wernick said:  "Our commitment goes beyond just complying with our legal requirements – it is being embedded in everything we do as one of our core company values, as laid out in 'The Wernick Way'".

To ensure the company will achieve net-zero by 2040, milestones and key objectives have been identified. Some of these include:

  • All gas central heating in offices to be changed to a low emission alternative by 2024
  • All new build offices to be energy positive A+ EPC rated by 2024
  • All new company vehicles to be hybrid or fully electric by 2025

The commitment to be carbon Zero will also help clients reduce their carbon footprint and create a cleaner future. These plans also help support the UK governments' 'Build Back Greener', carbon zero 2050 strategy.

Jonathan Wernick added: "The challenges being presented by climate change should not be underestimated and it is essential for all companies and individuals to act now to play their part in reducing global emissions.

"Our Carbon Management Plan clearly sets out the steps we are going to take to reduce our emissions in the years between now and achieving net-zero by 2040. This is the beginning of a challenging but exciting journey and marks the next chapter in the Wernick Group's almost 90-year history."
