MTX Secures Two Hospital Expansion Projects in North-West

6th June, 2022

MMC healthcare specialist, MTX, has been awarded two hospital expansion projects at the Royal Bolton Hospital and Clatterbridge Hospital
MMC will reduce build time by 50%.

The expansion project at Clatterbridge Hospital, located on The Wirral, features a two-storey development comprising two theatres, a twelve-bay recovery suite, first-floor plant room, plus all the necessary ancillary required at the hospital.

At Royal Bolton Hospital – MTX's second project – the expansion scheme includes a single-storey theatre development, encompassing two theatres with all necessary ancillary, ward accommodation and plant room.

Both hospital expansion projects will increase patient capacity, helping to reduce appointment backlogs from COVID-19 and achieve the NHS's Elective Recovery Plan – to eliminate two-year waiting times by July 2022.

Through the use of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) on the projects, build times will be reduced by up to 50% and wastage by up to 60%.

David Hartley, managing director at MTX, added: "We're thrilled to have been given the opportunity to work with the Trusts at Royal Bolton and Clatterbridge Hospitals on these two projects.

"This continues a four-year relationship with the Royal Bolton Hospital and the start of a new one with Clatterbridge Hospital, and I'm incredibly proud of the MTX team, as this is testament to their ongoing hard work and expertise.

"The new facilities will help increase capacity to help ease the backlogs and shorten delays for operations, treatments and screenings."
